This wonderful pair of Royal Standard bone china tea cups and saucers were made in the 1960's. The cups and saucers are light blue on the outside and white on the inside. The cups have a medallion of three fruits.
The cups and saucers are ribbed. The ribbing produces a slightly scalloped effect on the rim of the saucer while the rim of the cup is smooth. The rims of the cup and saucer are trimmed in gold and the handle has gold highlights.
Royal Standard is one of the trademarks used by Chapmans Longton Ltd of Albert Works in Longton Staffordshire England. Established in 1916, Chapmans Longton also produced bone china using the brands Royal Mayfair and Standard China. Royal Standard was their most popular brand and this mark was used from 1949 onward.
