Royal Standard Bone China Cup and Saucer, Clipper Ship and Sea Gull
This gorgeous bone china tea cup and saucer was made by Chapmans Longton Ltd. in the 1950's under their Royal Standard Brand. The cup and saucer are decorated with scenes of Clipper Ships riding the wind on the open ocean. The inside top of the cup has a seagull flying lazily.
The cups and saucers are scalloped at the rim and are both heavily trimmed in gold at the rim and the handle of the tea cup.
The cup and saucer are in mint condition with no chips, cracks or gold loss.
Royal Standard is one of the trademarks used by Chapmans Longton Ltd of Albert Works in Longton Staffordshire England. Established in 1916, Chapmans Longton also produced bone china using the brands Royal Mayfair and Standard China. Royal Standard was their most popular brand and this mark was used from 1949 onward.
